Broken window fallacy lives on. Maybe if we called it the Erie Canal fallacy it'd be more relevant to Americans? Most people here BWF and wonder "who gives a crap about glassmakers?" or "glassmaking... isn't that what they do in China? No one makes glass here anymore."
Then again, my guess is most Americans don't even know there is such thing as the Erie Canal.
You know, by the last year of the Obama administration, things could get real interesting. Americans on average I suspect got a lot more poor in the past 8-9 years, and they may not take too kindly to a few more legs down in their standard of living.
