The Secretary Celebrates Ramadan

Thursday evening, Treasury Secretary Geithner will host the Treasury’s sixth annual Iftaar dinner.

According to the Treasury, the dinner is "...in celebration of Ramadan and the strengthening of Treasury’s ongoing dialogue with the Muslim-American community regarding important economic and security initiatives."

I have asked the Treasury for the names of those that will be attending the dinner. If I receive the list, I will publish it. Don't hold your breath.

  1. Why is Treasury promoting religious and cultural events? What does that have to do with their mission of financing the US govt?

    Maybe keep the Saudis happy?

  2. Yes given the Saudis happy indeed. If China weren't so dead set on Tibet, Geithner would probably light incense and clap his hands at a temple with the Dalai Lama.

Given that Geithner's not Muslim, this reeks of a pander job.

At least it wasn't a Christian celebration or the ACLU would be on him.
