Bernanke Coverage Gets Emmy

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences yeterday announced the winners of the 7th Annual Emmy® Awards for Business & Financial Reporting in a luncheon ceremony at Fordham University in New York City. Emmy® Awards for Business & Financial Reporting were presented in eight categories recognizing outstanding achievement in business & financial reporting telecast or webcast from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009.

An Emmy was awarded to CBS News”s “60 Minutes” program for its profile of Ben Bernanke, titled “The Chairman”. It was aired in March from Bernanke’s hometown of Dillon, South Carolina and from inside the Fed.

The piece was generally seen by insiders as part of Bernanke's attempt to use PR to improve his image with the general public.

Myself, I'm more concerned that he is running monetary policy and seems to use the words, monetary policy, in two different distinct fashions, which appears to be causing confusion at to whether monetary policy is really tight or loose.
