ONE DAY LAST MONTH, Congressional leaders of both parties shuffled into the Cabinet Room of the White House for the first of what Obama now promises will be monthly bipartisan meetings. Young aides asked the staff members to surrender their BlackBerries, as is typical for meetings in the West Wing. Yet while the president and the leaders talked through their issues, there was Emanuel, staring down and typing away.At a meeting of the president’s economic team a few weeks ago, though, Emanuel called out Lawrence Summers, the head of the White House National Economic Council, for obsessively working his BlackBerry. “Hey, Larry, are you winning or losing that game?” Emanuel teased, according to a person in the room. “In my house when my kids do that, we take away their things. I’m not going to do that, I just want to know if you’re winning.”
