Former House majority leader Tom Delay has been found guilty on two counts of money laundering. He faces anywhere from 5 years to life in jail.
Delay, a Republican, was found guilty of conspiring to funnel $190,000 of corporate money through the Republican National Committee, which sent $190,000 in campaign donations to seven GOP candidates for the Texas House.
It is believed the DeLay case is the first such criminal charge ever filed in Texas over a 100-year old law on the prohibition of corporate contributions in state political races.
