Today's Translation of D.C. Speak: Tax Reform = Tax Increases

If you hear the words, "tax reform," or any similar words such as "overhaul of tax laws", don't think it's about cutting taxes. As  the budget talks come down to the wire, "tax reform" will be the cover used to raise taxes. NYT pretty much exposed the scam in a story they posted last night:

The president’s renewed efforts follow what knowledgeable officials said was an overture from Mr. Boehner, who met secretly with Mr. Obama last weekend, to consider as much as $1 trillion in unspecified new revenues as part of an overhaul of tax laws...

Got that? "Tax reform" could mean  $1 trillion in increased tax revenue!

As I have said before, we don't need tax reform. We need to freeze the current structure and cut tax rates from the current structure. Anything else leaves to much room for hidden tax hikes.
