Why Ron Paul Scares Rick Perry

Wow, Brent Budowsky on the scared Rick Perry:
One of the cardinal rules of politics is "never attack down,” meaning a front-runner should never attack or respond to an opponent who is far behind. Yet that is what Rick Perry is doing. He is intimidated by Ron Paul, and responding to Ron Paul. Why? The answer is that Ron Paul is a true libertarian and a true conservative, while the latest version of Rick Perry, the man who once championed Al Gore, is a phony conservative and can't even pretend to be a phony libertarian.

As I have written repeatedly, Rick Perry is the ultimate pay-for-play government man, the exact opposite of a true conservative and a true libertarian. Ron Paul, whether one agrees with him or not, is the true libertarian and a genuine conservative in ways that Rick Perry can never be. That is why Rick Perry fears Ron Paul...

For now it is fascinating to watch Ron Paul get under Rick Perry's skin, and into Rick Perry's head.

  1. Perry will collapse like Bachmann before him and paper candidates Thompson and Giuliani in 2007-08.

Ron Paul today was a 13% in the CNN poll, third place. He was at 1% in the CNN poll taken 4 years ago:

    CNN GOP poll (9/9/07)
    Giuliani 28
    Thompson 27
    McCain 15
    Romney 11
    Huckabee 5
    Brownback 2
    Tancredo 2
    Ron Paul 1

  2. The GOP needs to realize that 13% (and growing) will not vote for any other GOP candidate.

Can any of the establishment stooges win without Ron Paul's 13%?

    Doubt it.

  3. Texas Chris,

I mentioned pretty much the same scenario at a dinner party last night after allowing the other guests to blather on about their own personal takes on so and so.

The silence was deafening and I could see on every persons face the full weight of what I had mentioned sunk in and they wrestled mentally with the prospect of 4 more years with the current jackass occupying the W.H.

What made this particular situation all the more powerful was that every single guest was a member of my own family.

Guess I'm not the "crazy" one after all.

    Go Ron, go!

  4. I hope the Republican party can come to their senses and realize that Mitt and Rick are not conservative and are pro-BigG. It is amazing to me how little people know about the candidates other than what's in the media. It makes me realize why the founding fathers were not fond of democracy... most people are dumb and form opinions without doing their homework. I even heard someone say that Ron Paul is anti-civil rights. Where do people get this NONSENSE ?!?!?!
