Now, Archbishop of Canterbury Calls for a Soros Tax

Following on the heels of a rogue Vatican Catholic group, who called for a tax that will benefit the trading style of George Soros and result in the markets becoming less liquid, The Archbishop of Caterbury, the senior bishop and principal leader of the Church of England is calling for a Soros Tax, aka a Tobin tax, aka a Robin Hood tax.

Writing in FT, Dr Rowan Williams said the levy would be one way of advancing the "moral agenda" of the protesters outside St Paul's.

The archbishop wrote: "There is still a powerful sense around - fair or not - of a whole society paying for the errors and irresponsibility of bankers; of messages not getting through; of impatience with a return to 'business as usual' - represented by still soaring bonuses and little visible change in banking practices." Which means the archbishop does not seem to grasp the difference between halting the bailout of banksters and taxing the entire financial trading sector.

Williams referred to a document produced by the rogue Vatican outfit, The Vatican's Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace last week. "These ideas - ideas that have been advanced from other quarters, religious and secular, in recent years - do not amount to a simplistic call for the end of capitalism, but they are far more than a general expression of discontent", he said. "If we want to take seriously the moral agenda of the protesters at St Paul's, these are some of the ways in which we should be taking it forward." Williams said the protesters' demands needed to be "a bit more specific", and said the Vatican's proposals should be a starting point for debate.

  1. Interesting how the media spin on MFG is the need for a strengthened Volcker rule and Tobin tax.

  2. Someone should re-introduce the merits of gold/silver as legal tender in the name of morality to these various pontiffs, who are clearly not pontificating from a financially educated standpoint.

  3. The jolly old archbish should perhaps ponder the words of exodus 20:17 "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house; thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's." I don't think they meants it ok if the feds do it on your behalf.

  4. I don't think it was a rogue group...I think it was a trial balloon to test for reaction.
The Pope is clearly a Democrat.
He opposed the Iraq war...but he's been quiet on Libya.

I'm sure he's all for wikileaks too...
    and OWS...

So we have the neocon right (globalist) Catholics for the Iraq war ( Anglo-Am national security establishment approved) and the foundation left (globalist) Catholics for the Libyan (Human rights liberventionist and UN sanctioned).

Hmm. Makes me want to go back and read what all those Vatican conpiracists used to write about.

  5. And here we go.

"Two U.S. lawmakers will introduce measures to impose a transaction tax on financial firms that resembles a proposal released by the European Union."
