Thousand of Protesters in Downtown Oakland

On the day Occupy Oakland called for a General Strike, thousands of protesters are milling about in downtown city area. A huge banner being carried by a few of the protesters reads: "Death to Capitalism".

Men's Wearhouse is among others businesses in the general vicinity who have closed "in sympathy" with the occupiers. I'm guessing they closed to protect their store from an "occupation" rather than a belief that this motley crew are big suit buyers.

There's a live video stream here.

  1. Someone needs to tell those protesters that Capitalism died a very long time ago.
