Maybe this is a good reminder to Puerto Rico that if it becomes a state the regulations on the territory will increase a hundred-fold.
Keep your status as a territory, Puerto Rico, and keep speaking Spanish. The less Washington DC understands what you are doing the better.

Puerto Rico is already impoverished by Washington DC and socialist local policies. The best thing that could happen to the territory is declare independence and try to imitate Singapore or Hong Kong. They may be written off as another Caymen Islands style off shore hideaway but with the right policies it could be a paradise.
ReplyDeleteThe influx of smart, able and talented Americans and South Americans would be massive because of the proximity to the mainland(s). Relocating would be a no brainer because travel back and forth would much more convenient than going to SE Asia.
The rise in standard of living would be unlike anything we've ever seen. It would be like living another planet after 20 years.
