Dear John and C4L Board of Directors,
Helping found, build, and grow Campaign for Liberty over the last four years has been one of the great honors of my life.
Every day, I was blown away by the dedication and energy of you, our team, and the thousands of activists across the country fighting together to make our country a better place. Campaign for Liberty is a rare thing in this world: a real force for good and positive change that continues to give me hope and optimism for our future.
As I stand at an important crossroads in my life, I have been blessed with wonderful opportunities but also face difficult choices. After much soul searching, I have decided that my passion lies in direct electoral politics, and I plan to work on campaigns rather than resume my work in grassroots advocacy.
It is therefore with a heavy heart that I write to tell you that I will not rejoin Campaign for Liberty’s staff this fall. Please know that you, our team, Dr. Paul, and all our wonderful members have my undying friendship and loyalty. I am of course happy to be a resource and friend to any and all of you, for whatever is in my power to provide.
Thank you as well, John, from the bottom of my heart, for your guidance, wisdom, and calm, steady hand over the years. I know that with your leadership, the power of the message of Liberty, and the energy of the supporters, Campaign for Liberty will grow stronger than ever and accomplish even greater things.
In Liberty,
Jesse Benton
You'd think the mismanagement of this campaign would warn others away from hiring this guy.
ReplyDeleteJudas is gonna get his 30 pc of silver.
DeleteGood riddance to bad rubbish. Now get rid of John Tate.
ReplyDeleteHave fun wiping the toilets in Mitch McConnell's office Jesse.
ReplyDelete"Please know that you, our team, Dr. Paul, and all our wonderful members have my undying friendship and loyalty"
ReplyDeleteMaybe friendship, but loyalty? I find this to be an interesting statement. Who needs to proclaim their "loyaly" to an organization they are leaving? Unless of course, it was in question.
That's IMHO.
Anyway, it doesn't matter much. C4L will never regain my trust.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Jess...
ReplyDeleteWow, he must have a different definition of loyalty than the rest of us... Not that my opinion matters, but I can't say I'll be sad to see him go.
ReplyDeleteOh, he's loyal all right.
DeleteUnflinchingly loyal to Jesse's bottom line.
Confirmation is a great thing. We all knew this about him, he's all about the benefits, not the principles. I would much rather him leave than stay with C4L. For that fact alone, I say that this is great news.
ReplyDeleteJust a little tidbit. C4L called me a few weeks ago to ask for support. I told them that I do not wish to be associated with their institution any more. When asked why, I told them simply: Jesse Benton. I'm guessing that I was not the only one. This may be completely unrelated, but I doubt it.
I think this is for the best. Way too many people were critical of the way Benton ran the Ron Paul campaign for him to be effective at Campaign for Liberty.
ReplyDeleteThis is a positive development for the organization, but what they really need to do now is work on regaining issue credibility with grassroots Ron Paul supporters as there is a fear that Benton and Tate were trying to water down the Ron Paul agenda to appease establishment Republicans, particularly in the areas of foreign policy and civil liberties. If I were Tate, I would put every effort in the coming months to making clear that no watering down of the Ron Paul agenda is occurring at all, and there will be aggressive advocacy on issues like foreign policy and civil liberties were differences exist with the current Republican mainstream.
I'm trying as hard as I can not to do a pirouette on this guy's grave... He will probably find electoral politics more lucrative, so its not like he's "losing" anyway...
ReplyDeleteBut I bet Tom Woods is smiling just a little bit right now... Good for him.
POP THE BOTTLES!!
ReplyDeleteJesse Benton's (mis)management of the Ron Paul campaign has been highly instrumental in the demise of the Ron Paul campaign, especially after the middle of May. Ron Paul should have had a much more aggressive, heavy-hitting campaign that would have advertised to Republican voters, saying that America is heading toward a fiscal cliff and that nobody else running in the primaries could (or are even willing) to turn America around. But, no, the Ron Paul campaign wanted to play nice with Romney and the Establishment. America's last chance to elect a true fiscal conservative before the inevitable economic collapse has been thwarted.
ReplyDeleteJesse Benton, don't let the door hit you on your way out!
"blessed with wonderful opportunities"
ReplyDeleteDid that include some D.C. shark promising all that Jesse could see if he sold his soul?
Note from Congressman Ron Paul:
ReplyDeleteAs Jesse moves on to new opportunities, I wanted to take a moment to thank him for his tireless efforts on behalf of our cause these past few years.
Jesse remains committed to building on the historic progress our movement has made, and I wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
I look forward to seeing the great things I know he and Valori will accomplish together in the years to come.
For Liberty,
Ron Paul
C4L is the only grassroots, libertarian organization in my area. I've met a lot good people through it.
ReplyDeleteAnd your journey to the dark side is COM-PLETE
ReplyDeleteToo little. Too late. Too bad. Ron Paul might have actually been a contender if he was better served by a loyal and competent staff. This is why the message is more important than the man. The cause of Liberty will go on even if Ron Paul doesn't. WE are the future.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean we can actually kick start the Paul campaign again???
ReplyDeleteAs AVTM recently said; "C4L is just a welfare fund for out of work RP supporters"
ReplyDeleteAs great as Ron Paul is, why does he get a free pass for trusting and defending this guy?
ReplyDeleteChuck Todd of MSNBC just tweeted that Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton to manage Mitch McConnell 2014 campaign.
ReplyDeleteLMFAO.
DC Shark = Senator Mitch McConnell
ReplyDeleteNew job came two days after retiring from old. It was already in the can.
