RNC Chairman On The Hunt For Weak Libertarians

Conservatives are used to being The Republican Party's whipping boy. They've been duped by the party so many times, that it can now be comfortably called a tradition.

Tell conservatives what they want to hear and you've got their vote. Make sure to use words like "free enterprise", "limited government", and a few quotes from "The Founders" and you've got conservatives hook, line, and sinker.

After you win the election, you proceed to trample every freedom in sight. Welfare....War...all of it to the max. You make the Democrats look like a bunch of tightwad peaceniks.

Looking to build on this strategy, the Republican Party wants to bring in some fresh meat.

The DailyCaller reports:
Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus is courting the libertarian-leaning Ron Paul wing of the Republican Party, saying, “We would be fools not to welcome in the liberty movement in this party.” ...

“I want to reach out,” Priebus responded. “The fact of the matter is we’re not going to grow our party by closing doors.”

...“everyone’s welcomed, especially people who love and believe in liberty, freedom, the Bill of Rights, James Madison.”
Ok...Priebus used some code words...and even threw in the name of a "Founder".

The line has been cast into the sea.

If you consider yourself a libertarian, I urge you not to bite down on the bait, no matter how enticing it can look.

Liberty will not come about by "mixing it up" with Tyranny.

If you want to push the message of liberty in the right direction, then grab the wheel with both hands, and drive the ideas home. This is about the spread of ideas, not winning elections.

The Priebuses are there to peel you away from your convictions; to get you to compromise and take one hand off the wheel...then the other.

The inevitable result? Disaster!

You put yourself in the same class as conservatives...an impotent, but loyal voter.

Republicans are on the hunt, looking for the weak libertarians....Don't bite the hook.

lol....did someone miss the GOP presidential primary last round? Or is this just some lame attempt to shove it down the memory hole?

    1. Oh, Priebus is admitting he was a fool now...? I agree. Which is why I won't be taking anything he says seriously.

  2. Sorry dickheads. You had your chance and you blew it. I hope no libertarian falls for this crap.

This looks like an admission that up until now the liberty movement wasn't welcomed by the RNC. I think old Reince just put his foot in his mouth.

Am I the only one who thinks that Reince Priebus sounds like the name of a transvestite German art film director?

  4. Too little, too late. Go f*** yourselves, Republicans.

  5. With all due respect, it is Reince Priebus who is being co-opted.

I can report that the Liberty Movement is alive and well in the GOP. The infiltration into local precincts and central committees is ongoing and I think that young people are a big part of it.

This is a tried and true method of transforming a party. Even a cursory review of various movements over the past 100 years shows this to be quite a viable strategy.

I would encourage libertarians, the old right, etc. to at least look at their local county central committee. I think you will find many young Ron Paul supporters at work. There is reason for optimism and they could use your help.

    1. Seems to me that there'd be way more advantage in libertarians joining the libertarian party than there is still messing around with these GOP assholes. Even if the LP isn't perfect, it at least has our name on it & it seems to me it'd be a lot easier to take the party called the libertarian party in a more libertarian direction than it would the awful republican party. To me the LP seems pretty good as it is, the people I voted for in my local elections were all good. I watched interviews of them and read things they said, I'd give them all either A- or A for how good they were on the liberty scale so to speak. Except that there was one guy who ran in the LP for some local position that clearly wasn't a libertarian and didn't believe in free markets at all so I didn't support that one. So perhaps the LP does need some cleaning up. But I think that just giving up on politics completely is unwise because entirely getting rid of the state would take almost everybody in society agreeing with us and that's never going to happen. It's like trying to talk a lion out of eating you because it'd be immoral or him to do so. The lion could give a fuck what's moral. Unfortunately the lion in this metaphor represents the average person, so we have to do what we can to protect ourselves from them and secure as much liberty as is actually physically possible.

    2. And there are many "young Ron Paul supporters" who now support Rand Paul, Justin Amash and others of their ilk. Many of them were at the Daily Paul, even supporting Rand Paul's vote on the military bill.

In other reports it has already become clear that this Priebus fellow has caused a rift in certain pro-liberty groups because some fell for his nonsense. Exactly what they want, looking for the easy sell outs.

By the way, it is about time to drop this "Ron Paul supporters" nonsense. Stop supporting men; start supporting ideas and principles. You would think there was no libertarianism before or without Ron Paul, no offense to the man himself.
If someone were to call himself or someone else a "Ron Paul supporter" i would ask him some serious questions relating to libertarian principles, rather than just make assumptions on the basis of whom he decided to support last year.

    3. @ Dave

Did you miss the part where politicians are liars, and where even the bill of rights means nothing anymore?

And where are the guys you'd put your trust in without smearing your hands with the vote for violence at the same time? Because when you vote for a guy you vote for his WHOLE agenda.

So how about Gary Johnson the leader of the LP, you might ask.
Well, i assume you would be talking about the guy that only wants to legalize marijuana (and who doesn't these days) instead of ALL drugs, and actually wanted to send the military into Uganda, who thinks Guantanamo Bay should stay open and who doesn't think the FED needs stopping.

Politics is not going to save you. It's just going to make you dirty.

  6. Sounds to me like some folks in the RNC are scared...spitless...of the Liberty wing taking over the Republican Party before the end of the decade, and this is the last-ditch effort of the Old Guard to keep those dumb freedom-minded 'Pubbers away from the decision-making action.

    1. I agree. The Liberty Movement is real and I encourage you to at least check out your county GOP central committee.

Who will be co-opted? The Liberty Movement is younger and much more motivated. IMO they will outlive the old-guard RINO types.

  7. Actually i think it is unwise to ask libertarians not to fall for the ruse.

I think it is always necessary to separate the wheat from the chaff, and if there are people who don't really "get" libertarianism, or who are easily bought off, better for the movement to get rid of them now then when its momentum is bigger.

As for those with a good heart but little experience, you can only learn from your mistakes when you make them.

All libertarians should have well honed BS-detectors. Unfortunately, a number of them simply don't have them, as evidenced by their initial (and perhaps even continued) trust of Rand Paul and his ilk.

  8. By now libertarians should tell conservatives who want to extend an olive branch to go fuck themselves. The 2012 election should've been a huge wake up call to libertarians that we can't and never should trust conservatives and conservatism. If they say the tired old lines "Conservatives have lost their way" or "They're not real conservatives" simply point out that they've been saying that since the Clinton administration. Also if they call themselves a Buchananite or a Paleocon it shouldn't change a damm thing as Paleocons love their brand of statism as well.

Adam Kokesh points out how conservatives have no principal ground when they call foul on gun control while supporting statism in other areas.

  9. Not to worry. We've been onto their game for some time now. Paul supporters pay little heed to what these folks say and instead pay attention to what these folks do.

  10. I couldn't stand this lying, condescending P....K before this article - just the sight of this guy nauseates me. He screwed up at the convention and acted as though we were nothing but now has a moment of his own evil-minded clarity: he thinks libertarians would be useful to him now! I quit voting after closely following this last election and saw what goes on. I changed my party affiliation from republican which I declared to vote for Ron Paul in my state to 'undeclared'. I'm not for sale, and he and all the rest can go to hell for all I care. It's all ROTTEN to the core!
