The Republican 2016 Presidential Field (The Florida Numbers)

According to Public Policy Polling, Marco Rubio has the edge over Jeb Bush right now on the Republican side in Florida. 62% of GOP voters in the state want Rubio to run in 2016, compared to 49% for Bush. Overall 31% of voters say they'd like Rubio to be their 2016 candidate to 26% for Bush, 11% for Mike Huckabee, 7% for Chris Christie, 5% for Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, and Paul Ryan, and 2% for Rick Perry and Susana Martinez.

Rubio's lead is based on his strength among voters describing themselves as 'very conservative.' He gets 39% with them to just 20% for Bush. The two are about tied when everyone else is factored in. One thing noteworthy in the crosstabs related to Christie is that he's the choice of just 1% of voters describing themselves as 'very conservative,' putting him in last place among everyone we polled.

  1. Rand doesn't have a prayer. Had he stayed like his dad and not compromised, he would have at least had that built in support and network. But now he basically is in the position of pissing all of the sides off and pleasing no one.

  2. Pro-Amnesty Rubio, let alone his shaky performance during L'affair Zimmerman, insures he is a stalking horse, not a serious candidate. We'll just have to hope that it will backfire on Jeb.

If the elites decide on Rand, which I will grant is unlikely, he has as much chance as anyone. Anon above seems unclear on how the system actually works.

  3. The American People are dumb... but I would have to think that after the last experience, anything w/ the last name of BUSH will not be touched w/ a 10 foot pole by the general public when it comes to electing a future President.

  5. Ahhh it really has become bread and circuses.

Picture, if you will, a small car pulling into the spotlight in the center ring. The door opens and out steps this group of clowns.

There's a sign up ahead. You have just entered the Twilight Zone...

  6. Rubio is a sitting duck with his close ties to David Rivera, a one-time US House Rep and well-known political player fighting a series of Federal and State raketeering, money laundering and tax evasion charges. Rubio even owns a house with Rivera.

If and when Rivera goes down, the close association will also sink Rubio's chances for the WH.
