Rand has made the cover of TIME magazine. They consider him one of the 100 most influential leaders in the world. The full entry about Rand is written by, get this, Sarah Palin:
When the Tea Party movement wanted to send a message to the Senate in 2010, it elected a clear-sighted eye doctor from the Bluegrass State. In a D.C. too often defined by the venal equivocations of a permanent political class more interested in consolidating its own power than in upholding the Constitution or defending the common good, Senator Rand Paul is a voice of reason awakening the public to what must be done to restore our prosperity and preserve the blessings of liberty for future generations. His brand of libertarian-leaning conservatism attracts young voters, and recently he inspired the nation with his Capraesque filibuster demanding basic answers about our use of drones. I sent him some caribou jerky from Alaska to help keep up his strength on the Senate floor. There’s more where that came from for this bold Senator with 20/20 vision willing to take a stand for liberty.
My question remains: Who is running Rand? These things do not happen by accident.

the Kochopus?
ReplyDeleteAm I alone in thinking that Palin didn't write that text? (Well, maybe the line about the caribou jerky.)
ReplyDeleteNo, it's the Bilderberg group, with the assistance of Skull and Bones. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a red flag, great for Rand, but good for the movement?
ReplyDeleteThe Neocon establishment knows they can't win without RON PAUL supporters.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting/sad to see how many of them they dupe into falling in line behind Rand.
Whaaaaat?
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see this?

The (real) 100 most influential people in the world would not be caught dead with their likeness on this rag. Rand has sold his soul to the devil for political gain - a lost boy as it were...
ReplyDeletePaul the Lesser (as someone here at EPJ once called him) strikes again!
ReplyDeleteThere's a prevalent attitude here that just because Rand is not 100% libertarian, he is not worthy of support.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a big mistake as he may be able to help the cause of Liberty far more than his father ever could.
how does he help the cause by selling it short?
DeleteI would argue that your attitude is why the LP gets 1% of the vote and liberty dies a little more each election.
DeleteIs it really worth rejecting something good because it is not perfect in your view? If humans were perfect, we would be angelic beings, not humans.
Go ahead and cast your stones, you are the perfect libertarian.
Guy we have been trying the compromise strategy for a long time and we are getting anywhere.
DeleteWe advocate a different strategy:

I prefer to support someone on my judgement of their being a net positive for liberty, not on whatever the high water mark for perfection may be.
DeleteWhat the hell... now almost everyone in my family and half the talking heads on television are all about Rand. Hm. We'll probably never know who's pulling the strings. That won't stop fellows like Bob, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI would vote for rand, but only because the other option will be Hilary. That being said, I think it is extremely important that we stay critical of Rand, and that's why EPJ is the shit. If he wins, we are going to have to distance ourselves from him as much as possible. All we'll need to do is point back to EPJ archives for the proof that we knew he was no libertarian. Also, to fix our problems he would have to take some drastic measures (allow interst rates to rise with no bailouts) and I don't know if he's got it in him.
