Karl Rove Hits Rand Paul for Bill Clinton Bashing

Does Rand know what the hell he is doing? It appears that Karl Rove thinks maybe not? Politico reports:

Karl Rove took a shot at Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul on Tuesday for attacking Bill Clinton over his “predatory” behavior toward Monica Lewinsky, saying that it’s not good strategy for running for president.

But Rove said he’s not sure Paul has a strategy.

“Frankly, Rand Paul spending a lot of time talking about the mistakes of Bill Clinton does not look like a big agenda for the future of the country,” Rove said on Fox’s “America’s Newsroom.”[...]

Candidates for the presidency need to do two things in 2014, Rove said: make their campaigns about something larger their personal ambitions and strengthen their skills.

“I’m not certain, again, that beating up on Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky is a particularly good thing to strengthen your skills,” Rove said.

“Frankly, Rand Paul spending a lot of time talking about the mistakes of Bill Clinton does not look like a big agenda for the future of the country,” Rove said.

  1. While I'm not much of a fan of Rand, this line says it all:

"...not look like a big agenda for the future of the country..."

For Neocons and Progressives its all about using government to cram their ideas of morality and ideology down the throats of the electorate. Because we all know, we need our central planners creating prosperity as they see it.

  3. Of course Rove is going to pretend his hands are clean. If Rand is linked to Rove in anyway, forget about using Rand to get the Tea Party to turn out in 2016. This is a variation of swift boating. Rove's fingerprints are all over this.

  4. Paul was hoping for an easy talking point in attacking Clinton, one that is able unite the Christians, the oldsters and the tea partners. What has Rand got now the party has publicly said it's ineffectual.

  5. Two things immediately standout at this point in Rand's quest for greatness, first Karl is using a bit of misdirection, and Rand Paul has no real agenda other than moving up the Republican hierarchy food chain. But how can could expect anything more from a man who grooms himself to look like a bible belt undertaker, and has the moral center of a used car salesman in some southern squalid boondocks.

  6. The interesting thing is it was Kelly Paul who brought up the Clintons. ...and it's been Rand answering questions about what she said. It's not like he's voluntarily bringing Billary up. MSM is asking him about it. So sure, it's not Rand's strategy, but he can't control what the MSM asks him now, can he?

    1. Oh yes, the MSM held a gun to his head, and he's been shivering ever since so he continued bringing it up.

And of course, whenever the MSM brings up the Republican party he brings up how his fellow Republicans are inveterate warmongers and crony capitalists. OOPS, no he doesn't.

  7. why is it misdirection? why encourage Rand to get after a a twenty year old flap, that doesn't do anything to bring in extra votes. which the the democrats will talk away as the republicans having nothing new to say which would be correct.
