Rand Paul Playing with Fire: Demands Dems Return Money Raised by ‘Sexual Predator’ Bill Clinton

The Washington Times reports:
Sen. Rand Paul, who has been in a bit of a tiff recently with the Clintons, says that any Democrat who has raised campaign money with former President Clinton should return the cash to protest his sexual behavior in the White House.
Speaking on C-Span’s “Newsmakers” program, in an interview airing Sunday, Mr. Paul said Democrats are being hypocritical by criticizing Republicans as waging a war on women while at the same time embracing Mr. Clinton, who was impeached for lying about a sexual relationship with a White House intern.
“They can’t have it both ways. And so I really think that anybody who wants to take money from Bill Clinton or have a fundraiser has a lot of explaining to do. In fact, I think they should give the money back,” Mr. Paul, Kentucky Republican, said. “If they want to take position on women’s rights, by all means do. But you can’t do it and take it from a guy who was using his position of authority to take advantage of young women in the workplace.”

Mr. Paul recently called Mr. Clinton a “sexual predator” for his relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
Rand is playing with fire. As I have pointed out before, there might have been an "intern problem" at Ron Paul Inc. that included payoffs. With the FBI crawling all over Kent Sorenson and the alleged  payoffs made to him, it will not come as a surprise if the FBI is poking around the rumored "intern problem" payoffs. Rand really shouldn't be raising intern problems as a talking point right now.

  1. You hinted at presumably the same sort of thing with Ed Crane, but nothing seems to have come of that. What was the deal there?

    1. You may not have noticed, but Ed Crane is no longer president of Cato. But more important, there was no FBI investigation of Crane. The FBI is all over Kent Sorenson, which could very well lead in directions that Ron Paul Inc will not be happy with.

I don't make this stuff up. I have talked to people familiar with details in both situations. Just because I don't throw out the names of alleged victims, doesn't mean the names haven't been given to me.

  2. I voted for Rand's dad in the last two elections. I'm going to enjoy watching Rand's campaign crash and burn in the coming months. This just goes to show that Rand truly is utterly tone deaf and downright stupid when it comes to politics. Not only does he not share his father's healthy skepticism of politics, he decides it's a good idea to try to court the libertarians AND the neocons in his election bid. On top of that, he pulls this Clinton bashing crap. Who in their right mind gives a damn about the Lewinsky scandal 20 years after the fact? Why is he trying to score points with the religious right - a dying base in the GOP? This garbage is as painfully awkward to watch as Rand's pilgrimage to swear fealty to the lunatic Israeli war party.

  3. Why isn't Rand Paul demanding that Republicans hand back campaign money obtained from crony capitalists and war mongers?

Maybe it's because he thinks having sex with a willing intern is a worse offense than buying off politicians or killing thousands of people in illegal wars based on lies. He wants to talk about abuse of power?

Bah... It's just Rand playing the game... The Team Republican vs Team Democrat game, that is.
    Just like any partisan hack.

  4. Rand is proving to be nothing more than a ventriloquist wooden dummy sitting on the putrid flesh of Karl Rove's knee waiting for Karl's fat fingers and lips to act as his disembodied voice. What a sick joke Rand is turning into as he seeks to garner the approval of his rancid political mentors.

    1. This is definitely Rove's stupid idea. Funny that Rove is forcing himself onto candidates since he kills their chances once the word gets out that he is associated with the campaign.

  5. Robert, Have you considered that this is a preemptive strike to "get in front" of a disclosure they KNOW will come out during a presidential run (i.e the intern issue you have alluded to). If he comes out this strong about the topic in advance, then when the "revelation" comes out during the campaign, the campaign can claim it is an "attack" by those who he has previously spoken out against. Kind of neuters any "intern" scandals in the future, by posing as sternly against intern abuse. Just a thought.

  6. To the women's rights crowd, you are a sexual predator if you turn your head to watch a woman's ass when she's walking down the street or drop your eyes for half a second to check out their cleavage. In other words, every heterosexual male is a sexual predator. So this argument will not work with the intended audience.
