Owner of Newspaper That Endorsed Murray Sabrin Dies in Plane Crash

Last week I reported: Philadelphia Inquirer Endorses Murray Sabrin. The paper made the endorsement over more mainstream candidates, it was an independent and heroic act. Today, the owner of the paper is dead.

I very seriously doubt there is any connection but, for the record, here is the story via NBC News:
Seven people, including the co-owner of the Philadelphia Inquirer, were killed when a private jet crashed on takeoff and erupted in a fireball at a Massachusetts air field, authorities said early Sunday.

"There were no survivors," said Matthew Brelis, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates Hanscom Field in Bedford, where the Gulfstream IV crashed as it was taking off at about 9:40 p.m. en route to Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey.

Philadelphia Inquirer co-owner Lewis Katz, who once owned the New Jersey Devils and New Jersey Nets, was among the dead, the newspaper's editor said Sunday...According to Philly.com, last Tuesday, Katz and H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest bought out their partners in the publishing business for $88 million, gaining control of the media company that owns the Inquirer.

  1. Interesting too that the man Katz picked a fight with, and bested just last week, is one of the most ruthless and powerful men in South Jersey politics, the execrable George Norcross III, son of a union thug.

I assert no connection, just find it another interesting coincidence.

  2. Reports are that former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell was invited on the trip but declined.
