New York Times propagandist David Brooks wants Americans to "snap out of it". Life has never been better, especially in New York City:
And when I think about the 15 or 20 largest American cities, the same thought applies. Compared with all past periods, American cities and suburbs are sweeter and more interesting places.Go pick some flowers, and take a deep breath of the air of freedom:
Our global enemies are not exactly impressive. We have the Islamic State, a bunch of barbarians riding around in pickup trucks...Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Hold on there Brooks!
Didn't you listen to Defense Secretary Hagel? He said: "ISIL poses a threat greater than 9/11. ISIL is as sophisticated and well funded as any group we have seen. They're beyond just a terrorist group. They marry ideology with a sophisticated strategic and tactical military prowess and they're tremendously well-funded. This is way beyond anything we have seen. We must prepare for everything. Get Ready! ... They are an imminent threat to every interest we have."
Former CIA Director, Leon Panetta says: "I think we're looking at kind of a 30-year war."
30 (more) years???
So which is it Brooks? Pickup trucks? Or the scariest thing to ever walk the Earth?
I guess Americans are supposed to be afraid enough to let the war machine conduct forever wars, but not so afraid that they lose sight of the fact that things have never been better. Give a blank check to the Empire, and go take a yoga class to relax.
And while you're doing your Camel Pose, and relaxing your mind, don't you dare contemplate thoughts of real Liberty:
"...we need to get over the childish notion that we don’t need a responsible leadership class, that power can be wielded directly by the people."Real Liberty is a childish notion.
Just inhale.....and exhale.....Don't worry about the pickup trucks....Don't worry about not having a job....The Empire has created the perfect life for you.

Just one more reason why I avoid the NYT like an ebola virus.
ReplyDeleteor more importantly that the government removes half of what you earn from you and never you mind what it does with that.
ReplyDeleteNotice how he throws the word "responsible" in front of "leadership class". I mean, how can you argue with that?
ReplyDeleteI would argue that the two words are mutually exclusive.
