A South Korean naval ship has fired warning shotsafter a North Korean patrol boat crossed a disputed sea border off the peninsula’s west coast. The North Korean boat fired shots back before retreating, a South Korean defense official said, according to the China Morning Post.
There were no reports of casualties or damage to the ships of either side.
The incident took place Tuesday morning around 9:50 am (0050 GMT) near the South Korean border island of Yeonpyeong, the spokesman said, adding that the North patrol boat retreated to its side of the border 10 minutes later.
