KFC is about to launch an edible coffee cup.
The heat-resistant chocolate coated cookie biscuit cup called "Scoff-ee Cup" are currently on trial at KFC locations in the UK for a limited time. It will soon be launched across KFC restaurants in the UK.
According to the company, "KFC's 'Scoff-ee Cup' is a 100 percent edible coffee cup that are infused with a variety of mood improving aromas such as coconut sun cream, freshly cut grass and wild flowers."
Not my cup of coffee. (But I thought the same thing the first time I saw a vendor selling an ice cream cookie sandwich in NYC)

I wonder if it will have a sleeve to remove before you eat it. I've never had coffee from KFC, but other fast food places usually have the counter person prepare coffee so without a sleeve I'd rather not have have money handlers molesting my chocolate cookie coffee cup. The bottom would also be a problem without a sleeve. Or maybe not, at least it's a choice.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to crash and burn. It's what happens when they're trying too hard to satisfy the green crowd. Has KFC studied this thoroughly? How does it compare to paper really? How does a paper cup's life-cycle compare to the life cycle of eaten and un-eaten cups that end up in sewage treatment? KFC doesn't care. This is 100% marketing and appeasement. Notice that the announcements in the media don't even ask these questions. I suspect this is probably just as green as a Tesla.
