Breaking: House Rejects the Secretive Obamatrade Deal

House Democrats rebuffed a dramatic personal appeal from President Obama on Friday and have rejected his trade bill.

By doing so, they brought down legislation granting the president trade promotion authority — the power to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended or filibustered by Congress — before it could even come to a final vote.

Note well: This bill was not a move in favor of Free Trade. It was a secretive agreement where 500 corporate “policy advisors” were allowed to read the deal, but not the general public.

  1. Wow, good political news for a change! Great to read!

I wonder what the impetus was? I presume nothing noble, just unions stiff-arming Congressmen.

But, if that was indeed the case, I am thankful to the union folks. Strange bedfellows, indeed.
