How Bad Are Things in Venezuela? President Tells Women to Stop Using Hairdryers and Go Natural

This is what central planning can bring; The forced wet hair look.

The President of Venezuela has urged women to stop using hairdryers as the country’s energy crisis continues as a result of the combination of  Venezuelan central bank caused price inflation and price controls.

Recommending that women reduce hairdryer use to “special occasions," President Nicolas Maduro added: “I always think a woman looks better when she just runs her fingers through her hair and lets it dry naturally. It's just an idea I have."

Venezuelans are hoarding candles in anticipation of blackouts, though there is a shortage of candles thanks to, surprise, the price controls.

  1. Maduro clearly prefers the "lean and hungry" look in women as well as men, as long as the presidential perimeter holds.

  2. Most of us look at Venezuela and think "how avoidably tragic". I'm afraid our "leaders" look at Venezuela and think "if only".
