Chris Christie Orders an Anti-Trump Tax Reform Move

Some good news from the bridge-blocking fat man.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has signed an executive order requiring all NJ state municipalities to accept prepayments for 2018 property taxes made by the end of this year.

The order mandates that all towns in the state credit payments as received in 2017 if the payment is postmarked on or before Sunday, Dec. 31. The move is effective immediately.

The move comes on the heels of the new tax reform law signed Dec. 22 by President Donald Trump. Among other provisions, the law caps the allowable state and local tax (SALT) deduction at $10,000.

The new law prompted many state residents to seek prepayment, but prior to the governor intervening, the executive order noted, "not all municipalities have committed to assisting their resident taxpayers who might desire to prepay their 2018 property taxes in 2017."

New Jersey's property taxes are the highest in the country, which means residents will see a negative impact from the new tax law due to the SALT deduction cap.

"No one gets creamed more than New Jersey from this tax bill," said Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody's Analytics.

  1. Gotta love 'duh-mocracy'. Just sign an EO and all is well. Maybe his EO should have been about cutting government and such. I'm happy to see these sorry state suffer with their stupidity. Too bad some of those dimwits may come to TX.

Didn't one of their millionaires leave a while ago taking 1% of tax revenue with him?

  2. Coming next, to a tyrannical regime near you: income tax prepayment. Pay it, before you earn it!
