Jesse Jackson Jr.'s Condition 'More Serious than Initially Believed'

A week after U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. announced he was taking a leave of absence, his office released a statement Thursday saying his condition is "more serious than initially believed" and that he is being treated at an "in-patient facility," reports LaTi.

In a statement that contained few details, the Illinois Democrat’s office said: "Recently we have been made aware that he has grappled with certain physical and emotional ailments privately for a long period of time. According to the preliminary diagnosis from his doctors, Congressman Jackson will need to receive extended in-patient treatment as well as continuing medical treatment thereafter."

The statement gave no further details on Jackson's medical condition or where or how he's being treated.

    1. And taxpayers around the country will pay for his medical care and rehabilitation rather than the deserving residents of Illinois.

  2. "... Certain ... emotional ailments." I suspected he was crazy.

    1. Like father like son. This apple did not fall very far from the tree. Sins will be visited to the third and fourth generations?

  3. You know, I was going to say that it is not entirely fair to say that the Congressman is drunk. After all, we don't really know that he is under the influence of something.

Then, I read part of the LA Times article. The key phrase:

On June 25, Jackson announced that he had begun a medical leave back on June 10. The announcement said he was SUFFERING FROM EXHAUSTION. (Emphasis mine.)

It is amazing to me that the Hollywood and Washington elite types still try and convince us that they are "suffering from exhaustion." They've been using that excuse since I was a kid (35+ years ago). So, yeah, it's either drugs or alcohol.

    1. Yeah, I was "exhausted" for several decades, too.

Turns out I was just drunk for the last 30 years.

  4. I don't wish sickness upon him, but I do wonder if he won't soon be deemed "too ill to testify."

Because that would be convenient. He and Blagojevich and Obama would all incriminate each other on the stand, if it ever came to that.

  5. I hope he comes out of it quite well and decides to retire to a nice quiet, relaxing, and remote location.
