Walter Block on “The Problem with Leaking From Libertarian Principle"

Prof. Walter Block emails:
Dear  Bob:

You are 100% correct in your piece: The Problem with Leaking From Libertarian Principle.”  Our friends on the left are indeed using Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” as a support for Obamacare.

Here’s some support for your position:

Block, Walter E. 1996. "Hayek's Road to Serfdom," Journal of Libertarian Studies: An Interdisciplinary Review, Vol. 12, No. 2, Fall, pp. 327-350,; reprinted inAma-gi: Journal of the Hayek Society at the London School of Economics, Vol. 1, No. 1, pp. 22-25

Block, Walter E. 2006. “Fanatical, Not Reasonable: A Short Correspondence Between Walter E. Block and Milton Friedman (on Friedrich Hayek’s Road to Serfdom).” Journal of Libertarian Studies, Vol. 20, No. 3, Summer, pp. 61-80;

  1. Thank you VERY much for this Post.

    Block and Friedman at times appear to be arguing from the Prison Cells. We have a Constitution but if the Constitution is rendered meaningless, especially by Statist misuse of language to topple the CLEAR language given, does it matter that one is arguing for an Ideal Society and the other for a Gradualist Reversion to Capitalism?

    Both may end up in front of the firing squad.

    On this site, today, is the following:

    "According to Austrian Business Cycle Theory, when a central bank slows its money printing that has fueled a manipulated stock market boom, the stock market is very vulnerable to a crash."

    Would Friedman, on his worst days, disagree with this?

    My vote goes to the Revolutionary: "End Rent Control YESTERDAY! Get the Feds outa' Education NOW!!

    Revolutionary Cheers all around!

    Next up: "Put all those Derivatives on'a EXCHANGE!!!"

    "OK. How? Let the Feds set it up and run it by Legal Requirement?" "Uhhh...."

    The Revolution still has a long path to travel.
