'I'll Break You in Half,' U.S. Congressman Threatens Reporter

Government is all about thugish behavior, though it usually isn't as blatant by the thugs that set the rules.

Congressman Michael Grimm was caught on a television camera saying to a reporter, "I'll break you in half," after he was asked in an interview about a federal investigation into campaign finance violations.

He could be heard saying, "I'll break you in half," and NY1 said he threatened to throw Scotto over a balcony, reports Reuters.

Grimm issued a statement late Tuesday, saying the reporter had taken a "cheap shot" by asking a question about a topic other than President Barack Obama's State of the Union address, which the president had just delivered.

A fundraiser for Grimm, Diana Durand, was arrested this month on charges she illegally funneled more than $10,000 to his campaign.

NY1.com has released this transcript of the video:
"And just finally before we let you go, we haven't had a chance to talk about some of the..." Scotto began before Grimm cut him off.

"I'm not speaking to you off-topic, this is only about the president," said Grimm, before walking off camera.

"So Congressman Michael Grimm does not want to talk about some of the allegations concerning his campaign finances," Scotto said before tossing back to the station. But as the camera continued to roll, Grimm walked back up to Scotto and began speaking to him in a low voice.

"What?" Scotto responded. "I just wanted to ask you..."

Grimm: "Let me be clear to you, you ever do that to me again I'll throw you off this f-----g balcony."

Scotto: "Why? I just wanted to ask you..."

Grimm: "If you ever do that to me again..."

Scotto: "Why? Why? It’s a valid question."

[[cross talk]]

Grimm: "No, no, you're not man enough, you're not man enough. I'll break you in half. Like a boy."

  3. The original intent was that the Senate was to be the elite rulers while the House was to be of the rabble. It's always been this way.

  5. It is amazing to see how many plays a gov't turd can have when he applies the phrase "this is only about the president." Does that not sound like the statement of a personal body guard to the prez.?America is such a dangerous place, don't ya know, and Obama, well, he is so vulnerable. It's not because of his murderous and destructive policies, no way, Jack!! (Can't wait to hear from the white liberal, "Well, he is doing his best.") During his first campaign, people were labeled racist when they asked questions about Obama's policies. Gov't is getting so much mileage out of Obama, for he has become the perfect guy to enshrine the presidency with religious fervor. He's become a divinity around whom we are supposed to tread without the shoes delicately. Congressman Grimm is a douche bag. "This is about the president (and in the meantime I'll beat your f@#%ing ass)." When I first read the headline, I thought that the story was going to be about that terrorist, a.k.a. New York Congressman, Peter T. King. They're all thugs.

  6. What an ass. Typical govt thuggery. If Grimm did break this reporter in half, the top half of the reporter would still be twice the man that Grimm is. So yes, I'm saying Michael Grimm is less than a quarter of the man that the reporter is - and that's being generous.

  7. I'll ask all of you this.,
Is this what passes for well educated and well mannered in America today?
Is this what passes for a United States Congressman from New York?

If it does I am going to start acting a whole lot worse when and if I ever get the chance and I just might throttle one of these insignificant pieces of pond scum poop up on that Hill myself.

I'll also ask all of you to please call out this thug and call your representatives and demand he be sent packing.
