  1. Mainstream economists may not agree with Piketty but their previous suggestions to mend economic inequality with more education or subsidies for the poor has proved weak. Some even suggested that technological change is to blame but this excuse has also fallen out of favor. They have no understanding of the issue according to an article in the NYT “We have no handle on what happened in the 2000s,” Professor Autor told me. " They need to read George Reisman's essay.
